outfits 9+10 | 15 pieces.. 20 ways

The easiest way to make a lot of outfits from a limited amount of pieces is to layer. Layering is also key when it comes to the cold weather. Speaking of cold weather, dannnnnng, it has been getting colder and colder. I needed to get the outfits with the skirt done because soon enough, everything will be covered by my huge winter parka.

THE 15 PIECES ARE: jacket, cardigan, tank, lace-up shirt, flannel, turtleneck, tee, skirt, joggers, leather leggings, black jeans, baggy/ripped jeans, adidas, boots, purse. The necklace, sunnies and scarf are accessories you can add to any outfit.

Outfit 9 had a sort of preppy vibe and I was unsure of wearing a leather jacket with a leather skirt but then I thought “there can never be enough leather” (faux, that is). I like how the plaid goes with the three Adidas stripes, pulls the outfit together. Of course I had to tuck the flannel in and wear socks that show out of my sneakers.

Outfit 10 was super comfy, layering the flannel under the cowl-neck sweater. Layering a button down shirt under a sweater is a cool way to add dimension to an outfit and keep warm. I love the way oversized sweaters look paired with an a-line skirt for Fall.

Series: 15 pieces..20 ways

Are ya’ll ready for this? I’m starting a series of 10 posts, about 15 key pieces to pack while traveling and 20 different outfits you can make from them. I bet you’ve seen the articles on Pinterest of ‘How to pack for 3 months in a carry on’ or ’10 pieces, 20 outfits’. They always intrigue me because I love packing and I love finding new ways to wear the clothes I have. This series will be my spin on these posts.

Let’s get the deets:

  • The most important detail is that this series is a part of my coursework for University in Scotland. I figured since I came here with only two suitcases, and had to pack minimally, it would be a great idea to share the different ways to wear what I packed.
  • The outfits will be for Fall weather (if you live in a colder climate), I’m living in Scotland right now which has similar weather to my home in Canada.
  • Each post will have 2 outfits featured in it (2 outfits x 10 posts=20 outfits… yay!) and the collage of the 15 pieces. I will be talking about why I paired these together and where you can wear them.
  • Accessories, bags and makeup are not included in the 15 key pieces because they are items that do not take up a lot of room in your suitcase and can be worn with every single outfit created

I hope you enjoy this series and are inspired to find new ways to wear your clothes, whether you’re travelling or at home. Thanks for reading and I’ll talk to you soon!

Travel Essentials

As you know, I’ve been travelling around Europe and the UK, during these travels I’ve learned what items I NEED to bring with me. Whether it’s on the plane, in my purse or in my checked luggage. I’m legit obsessed with reading blogs and watching videos on travel essentials or flight essentials, so I figured I would create my own version and share with you guys! There’s a mix of everything in here; fashion, beauty, toiletries and more. Hope you enjoy and find some new items to bring on your next adventure!

  1. Sunglasses have many purposes, the main purpose, of course, is to protect your eyes from UV rays. However, the more important purpose is to make you look good, duh. Everyone is obsessed with Quay sunglasses and for good reason, every single pair they have looks amazing. I picked up a pair from Topshop in London and took them everywhere with me. Another purpose is hide those jet lagged eyes/ dark circles, I gotchu girl.
  2. My camera also went everywhere with me, so now it’s well travelled with a lot of pics on it. We all have phone cameras but sometimes it’s worth it to bring along a good quality digital camera so you can take great pictures and videos.
  3. I usually put all of my makeup in my checked luggage and kept a few items in my carry on with me. Concealer was something I could use to touch up makeup throughout the day or to just add a little something to your face after your flight.
  4. Another essential makeup item is some brow gel, or in my case, brow mousse. I feel that even if you don’t have any makeup on, filling in your brows, even just a little, can make a world of difference. I’ve been using the Clinique brow mousse and it adds subtle colour and keeps your hair where you want it. The brush is also really small so the mousse only goes where your brows should be.
  5. Headphones are a 1000000% must-have on any trip. They can block out the snores of your family while at the hotel or you can have your own little jam session on the train. I personally use Beats and my iPhone headphones.
  6. I’ve been in love with the Smashbox primer water, it gives your face a boost of freshness before applying makeup. I think it’d even be great to use to freshen your face up after a long flight.
  7. Another staple, a leather jacket can be worn with every single piece of clothing you packed and it also keeps you warm. For most of my travels, I just wore a leather jacket around London (the coldest place) and even while in Paris and Germany, I hardly ever left without it.
  8. My new fav sneakers, the Adidas Originals. Not even kidding, I wore these every day and they are still in great shape. An added bonus, they are so comfortable and I didn’t have a problem matching them to my outfits.
  9. I discovered Carmex in Germany while in Urban Outfitters and thought I would try it out. My sister said she used it all the time, back in the day. Any chapstick you have will do the trick but this one leaves your lips feeling tingly and smooth.
  10. For this item, a memory foam or beaded neck pillow is the best option. I made the mistake of buying a blow-up neck pillow and I wish I didn’t buy it. It was annoying to have to blow up, although it saved me space in my hand luggage, I will definitely be buying a foam one for the trip back home in December.
  11. Rollerball perfumes are the best thing to bring on any short or long vacation, they add just the perfect amount of scent and you don’t have to worry about it breaking in your luggage. My favourite perfume at the moment is the Nirvana by Elizabeth and James. However, since I am staying in Scotland for a few months, I brought the full size as well.
  12. One very important snack to bring on a plane is gum. I sometimes try and pretend my ears don’t feel like they’re going to explode while descending but man, I need that gum. Besides being your ears best friends, you can also freshen up your breath and have a clean feeling mouth.

LONDON VLOG

Hey everyone! This is my first attempt at vlogging and let’s just say I have a lot of practice to do. But here are some clips of our trip to London. I’ll make separate vlogs for each location; Paris, Rome, Germany. Keep an eye out for blog posts and follow me on Instagram @hungry4style_ to keep up with me from day-to-day. The days ahead (exciting news!)

I have some extremely exciting news to share with you all. As you know, I am studying fashion management in Toronto (Humber College), and I got the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Aberdeen, Scotland (RGU) for part of my third year!!!!! I am beyond excited. like it really does not feel real. I have never been to Europe, so of course I’m going to be doing some travelling before I go to school.

My first stop is London, then taking the train to Paris, flying over to Rome (I’ll be there for my 20th birthday!), then over to Germany and finally to the last stop, Scotland. I’ll be doing so many things and each day will bring something new. I can’t wait to share my days with all of you! I bought a new camera so my pics will be extra fleek and I’m going to try to vlog my trip and make a few videos as well.

Make sure you’re following me on Instagram @hungry4style_ to keep up with all the action. I seriously cannot wait to take outfit pics beside the Eiffel Tower or down a cobblestone path in London. Also, if you have any places to eat, shop or see in any of the places mentioned above, please, please share in the comments below or on my Instagram.

I’m so excited to share this journey with all of you and I hope you like the posts!!
