Friday Favs + Mini Review #shapematters

So, this week’s Friday favourites is just going to be one product but I swear to god this product is so amazing it takes the place of like 5 other products you have in your makeup collection. If you don’t know, I’ve started to get more into beauty and makeup products and I want to bring that into my blog. Much like fashion and clothing, makeup is a way of having fun and trying new things. It’s not about disguising yourself or trying to be something you’re not. It’s about doing what makes you happy and feel good! Enough rambling and let’s get to the good stuff.

This week I’m talking about the new Smashbox #ShapeMatters palette. If you follow me on Instagram (which you should) then you have seen a couple posts where I rave about how amazing this product is. This product contains 2 eyebrow powders and a wax, 4 contour and highlight shades and 9 eyeshadow shades, oh and a double ended brush for the eyebrows and eyeshadows. This palette is honestly so multi-purpose, it’s amazing. Every single colour in this palette is amazing and can be used for day or night makeup looks. The colours have great pigmentation and they blend very easily. I’ve been using this palette like every single day since I’ve bought it and the colours last so long on the skin. The palette is $69.00 on Sephora.com and it is SO worth the price. I’ve been wanting to buy the contour palette and sticks from Smashbox but have held off since they are a little pricey. So as soon as I heard about this palette, it was a no brainer that I needed it.

Now we’re getting to the real good stuff; swatches and pictures.

Left to right, top to bottom:

[BROW] eyebrow wax, taupe and soft brown

[FACE] contour, bronze, highlight and glow

[EYE] vanilla, totally nude, champagne, stripped, posh, platinum, sumatra, aubergine, blackout

I’ve been loving wearing ‘GLOW’ as a highlight and ‘HIGHLIGHT’ to set my under eye concealer. Oh the irony. I use ‘CONTOUR’ everyday to, you guessed it, contour. It gives a really natural looking structure to the face, unlike some other powders that look to orange or unnatural. I haven’t gotten around to using the darker eyeshadow shades but I have used almost all the lighter ones and I love them all.

If you haven’t gotten the hint already then what I’m trying to say is that you need this palette. Even if you’re a beginner to the makeup world (I still consider myself one), this is a great multi-purpose palette to get you started. If you are usually unsure about buying palettes because of the price or maybe you won’t use a couple shades, like myself, this palette will seriously amaze you and it is definitely worth the price. For me, I took into consideration that I wanted to buy the trio contour sticks from Smashbox and those alone are $52, this palette was only $17 more and I got 1 more contour shade, 9 eyeshadows, a brush and 3 eyebrow products. If that’s not a great value, I don’t know what is.

Happy Friday!!

Friday Favs

Back again with another favourite of this past week. For a while now there is a huge trend on the ‘mirrored’ sunglasses and I have fallen victim to it. The brand Quay Australia is a huge name this summer and it seems that everyone (including the hottest celebs) has a pair. I don’t blame them because they are SO nice. I recently got a pair of mirrored sunglasses from Express and I have, no joke, not taken them off since I bought them. Even when I don’t actually need to wear them, I hang them on my shirt.

I love the retro style of these sunglasses mixed with the modern trend of the super mirrored sunglasses. Funny story, I used to hate mirrored sunglasses but I have now changed and have fallen in love with them. These pics are from my Instagram so don’t forget to follow me over there, too!Screen Shot 2015-06-19 at 3.39.38 PM

Friday Favs

I’m back with some more favs!! Once again, I’m mixing some beauty products and fashion. TGIF!
IMG_4779 As I said in my last Friday Favs, I don’t wear a lot of jewelry at once so small and dainty pieces are what I gravitate towards. These small cuffs are legit my favourite thing ever, atm. I already had the white arrow one then Express came out with the sapphire blue arrow and then the pink hexagon one. They look so cool layered together on my arm. Click on over to my Instagram to see the look.

There is nothing more I can say about this 3-in-1 cleanser then IT IS AMAZING. If you’re looking for a cleanser and makeup remover then I highly recommend this one from Philosophy. It doesn’t dry out your skin, it leaves it so clean and smooth. I use it as part of my night time skincare routine to get all the gunk off my face.

 IMG_4784

My oh my, I have been wanting to try this brush for so long and I finally got it last week. I have no clue why I waited so long because it works magic when applying foundation. It’s the buffing brush by Real Techniques.

 IMG_4789

During the past week I’ve been wanting to wear this flannel every day. When I’m getting dressed I have to remind myself that I’ve already worn it. The pattern is not too loud so it really does go with everything. This one is from Express.

Friday Favs

Today marks the first day of a new segment here on hungry4style! Every Friday I will be sharing my favs, from beauty to fashion to lifestyle. I love watching favourite videos on YouTube and reading them on blogs so I thought I would start my own. Most of the time, I will go out and buy a favourite that another blogger has raved about, hehe. I hope you enjoy this and maybe we’ll have some similar favourites or you will find new favourites! That being said, be sure to check back every Friday (you can sign up to the right to be emailed when a new post is out) and follow me on Instagram @hungry4style .

These small dainty necklaces are SO cute layered with each other, they are so simple yet they add so much to your outfit. Some days I don’t really feel like accessorizing but these are so effortless and you can’t go wrong. These are from Forever 21.

IMG_4587

Where to I begin on this eyeshadow stick????? First, its like $4 and second, it is just amazeballs. I am so obsessed with gold eyeshadows atm and this chubby stick from NYC has got me going. The colour lasts all day and doesn’t crease, whatsoever. If you’re looking for a summery, bronze glow then I definitely recommend these. They come in quite a few colours but this is my favourite. I have recently been wearing it on my lower lash line and it looks amazing. This colour is 620 Murray Hill Champagne.

IMG_4593

Summer is the perfect time to get that glow you’ve been waiting for. This shimmering skin perfector from Becca can give you that without having to tan. I’ve seen other bloggers mix it in with their moisturizer (body or face) to achieve an overall glow but I like to use it as a highlight on the top of my cheekbone. This colour is Opal and it’s not too sparkly and it doesn’t make you look oily.

So these shorts have literally been the only pair I’ve been wearing when I’m out and about. That may have sounded a little gross but don’t worry I wash them, lol. These shorts are so comfy and you can wear them with a tee during the day and dress them up with a crop top and sandals at night. So versatile and so cute. So many stores sell this style so I would go grab a pair asap!! These are from Express, but I know Brandy Melville also sells super cute ones.

Playing Dress Up

This past weekend I went to my sister’s graduation, naturally that meant a dress and heels. I usually don’t have places to wear heels and I don’t gravitate towards them on a daily basis because lets be honest, heels hurt. If you say they don’t you are lying to yourself. For this event I went with my black trapeze dress and wedges. Would you believe me if I told you I’ve had these heels since grade 9 (aka age 15)??? But hey, my feet haven’t grown so who cares! Lol. I wanted to find a more Spring-like dress but didn’t find one so I went with classic black. I thought these shoes screamed Spring so they completed the outfit. I also love the way this necklace falls with the neckline of the dress. I wore my black trench over top because it was a little chilly. I hope you like and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram for daily inspiration @hungry4style_ !!!

Casual Friyay

Guys, it’s Friday, it’s payday, it’s 19 degrees outside (celsius) and it’s sunny. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS???? Life is great, that’s what it means. I am temporarily blocking the fact that I have five exams next week from my brain and enjoying today. I hope you are all doing the same, especially my fellow college student friends!

I wore a very casual outfit today; black skinnies, converse and a tee. I feel like I need to go shopping and buy a few more pairs of pants and some Spring layering shirts. Let me know if you have any suggestions. It feels so good to be able to get nice pictures taken outside in the GORGEOUS sunny weather. Hope you like and TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ps. read down below for the delish recipe for the frap I got from Starbucks.

IMG_3810 IMG_3813 IMG_3827 IMG_3830

OMG, so during class I was lurking the ‘secret menu’ at Starbucks because I was really and I mean really craving a frappucino. So I got a java chip frap with 2 pumps toffee nut, maple syrup and mocha syrup drizzled on top. YUM. IMG_3879 IMG_3881 IMG_3883 IMG_3891 IMG_3907 IMG_3912Coat: Forever 21 | Tee: Express | Jeans: Express | Converse: Soft Moc | Backpack: Call it Spring | Sunglasses: Forever 21

Easter Dresses under $50

Happy Easter! This post is a little late but I hope it can still inspire your outfits for this Easter weekend. I found some dresses under $50 that are perfect to wear for Easter dinner or just because! The dresses are also perfect for the Spring/Summer season. Hope you enjoy and remember that eating pounds of chocolate today is totally acceptable.

Has Spring Sprung?

It’s been quite a long time since my last blog post, which I don’t like, but school always comes first in my life right now and I’ve just finished doing my midterms…FINALLY!!! For my fellow students, I feel you’re pain and hope you did well on your midterms! Along with finally being finished midterms, it seems as though the weather has warmed up, again, FINALLY!!! Needless to say, things are going well. I don’t want to jinx it though, because usually halfway through March another snow storm comes our way… the joys of living in Canada.

On another note, I’ve noticed that it has become pretty trendy to start buying flowers and post pics of them on Instagram, is this the new movement? Kind of like posting your meal before you eat? I don’t really care much for buying flowers or having them in my house, but I mean they are damn beautiful. All these pics are making me even more excited for Spring, because soon, lawns and parks will be full of colourful flowers. I’ll be posting my fav pics from Pinterest and WeHeartIt to get ya’ll in the mood for Spring! And maybe, if we all come together, our mind power will legitimately change the weather to warm, Spring weather, for good…lol. Also, just wanted to quote The Devil Wears Prada, “Florals? for Spring? Groundbreaking” because I keep gravitating toward floral patterns right now. Comment if you agree!0e899983686ef9457daecdfdc3d9bdf0 large-17 large-18 large-19 large-20

Get out of your Winter Outfit Slump

It’s the dead of winter and I think that’s also a metaphor for the death of my outfit creativity. I feel like I’m wearing the same outfits over and over and I can’t seem to get out of this slump. I’ve noticed other bloggers and social media people talking about being in a slump and I couldn’t really find any articles or posts on how to get out of one. I thought I would share some tips on how to finally get out of that damn slump! These have all worked for me and I hope they work for you too. Share in the comments what you do to get out of your outfit slump.

  • paint your nails (even if your clothes are the same, your nails can change every week)
  • re-organize your closet (you may find items you forget about and fall back in love with them)
  • take the afternoon to go through your clothes and style outfits you have never worn before and try them on (you’ll find some unusual combinations that you will love)
  • search tumblr and pinterest for #street-style pics that are sure to inspire
  • go to the mall! see whats in the windows, hot new colours, patters, fabrics and choose one peice to buy that will spice of your wardrobe for the rest of winter
  • try out new beauty looks, a statement lip can change the style of your entire outfit
  • go back to basics; white tee, jeans, boots, sweater, and add your own style to them (this gives you a solid foundation where you can add whatever you want to them)

Vday | Love yourself

All my life I have known Valentines Day to be a day where you should show endless amounts of love to the people in your life; your mom, dad, sister, brother, grandparents, friends, dog, boyfriend, girlfriend, co-workers and hey, even strangers. I know a lot of women get sad when this day rolls around because they don’t have a date, I’m here to say that doesn’t matter… AT ALL! What matters most is that you LOVE YOURSELF and that you surround yourself with love. I really want this message to get across to women and young women around the world because it is such a waste to be sad over your relationship status. It just isn’t worth it.

That being said, I wanted to give a list of things to do on Valentines Day (and every other day) that can show love towards others and yourself (and they are fun to do, duh!). Comment below what you’re favourite thing is to do on Vday. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram via @hungry4style_

  • go to Starbucks and order your fav drink and chocolate brownie (mmmm, dreaming of this right now)
  • buy cheesy valentines cards and give them out to your family, friends and co-workers
  • go to the spa! Treat yourself with a mani/pedi or facial
  • make reservations at a super classy restaurant (with your best friend, sister or significant other), buy an entire outfit (heels to earrings) and get all dolled up (it’s like the adult version of playing ‘dress up’)
  • hit up the grocery store, buy some chocolate cake mix, frosting, red food colour, candy hearts and bake up a storm (it’s even better when they’re ready to eat)
  • order pizza, wings and that super garlicky and cheesy bread that you love, oh such much, and watch a marathon of Friends on Netflix
  • go to the florist and buy your favourite flower and pick out a cool vase while you’re there
