My Hangover Guide

As a twenty something living near the big city (Toronto), going out to bars is a part of my lifestyle. At no one’s fault besides my own,  I occasionally may drink one more rum and coke or tallboy then intended. We all know what that means, hangover city: population, me. I wanted to share my hangover guide and things I actually do the morning after. However, the first tip is something you can do the night before to wake up feeling a little less like an alcohol sponge, and more like a human being.

THE NIGHT BEFORE

-take ibuprofen and drink at least 2 glasses of water

-this tip may not help your pounding headache or weak stomach but at least your skin will feel great in the morning, which can help you feel great, apply this Clinique overnight mask, after taking your makeup off, to feel hydrated in the AM

SLEEP AS LONG AS YOU CAN

-sleep is probably most important after a wild night out, my advice is to stay in bed until 2pm and then start to move

-check out Casper’s Pinterest page to get some bed inspo that will make you want to stay in bed all day long (check out their mattresses to learn more)

DRINK WATER

-forget 8 glasses a day, try 20 glasses when you’re hungover

-sports drinks, like gatorade or powerade can also work wonders

WASH YOUR FACE / HAVE A SHOWER

-nothing feels better then having a hot shower and washing the thought of drinking away

-freshen up by going through your morning skin care routine (cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize), I guarantee you will be at least a little bit better

-if you are heading out for the day and are wearing makeup, prime your face with Too Faced Hangover primer to cure your skin hangover

EAT ANYTHING

-by anything I mean anything, even that leftover pizza you ordered at 2am, there is no shame, getting any food into your system will help you feel better instantly

COFFEE

-need I say more? “one venti triple espresso latte please”

coffee

GET MOVING

-it may be in your best interest to get out, grab coffee, brunch or head to the mall

-put on a comfy, lazy outfit, may I suggest leggings, oversized tee and a blanket scarf

-if you’re still feeling like hangover city is winning, then rock a red lip, instant perk up in in your mood and state of mind

Casual Friday

I think I am starting to become a believer in the ‘casual Friday’ phenomenon that has hit the world by storm for the past however many years. Especially since I start my day at 7am and don’t get home until late afternoon, making me want to dress comfy and casual. So I’m saying to myself “Wow Lilly, you are such a hypocrite for saying this” and “Are you sure you want to do this?”. I always wanted to think that there shouldn’t be one day out of the week where you ditch your style instincts and basically wear your PJ’s out. Right?

I have always believed that you shouldn’t sacrifice style for comfort. Lets be real, sweatpants and a hoodie is not ‘your style’ and they will never be ‘a style’. These days, you can find fashion that screams your name and is still comfy, wow, what a world we live in! I wanted to show you some basic pieces you can style to create that ‘casual Friday’ vibe but still look put together and that you didn’t wake up 5 minutes before you had to leave (even if you did). The amazing thing about the items I chose is that you can mix and match them together. I hope you like this post and that it inspires your next casual Friday outfit! As always let me know what you think and visit my social media page to follow me on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

Here are a few ‘casual Friday’ outfit ideas:

  1. Vneck tee, black skinnys, sweater wrapped around waist, sneakers, watch
  2. Tank (bralette layered under), button-down (unbuttoned), cargo pants, timberlands, blanket scarf
  3. Sweater (button-down underneath), jogger pants, ankle boots, rings
  4. Vneck tee (tucked in), skirt, button-down wrapped around waist, converse
