Outfits 17+18 | 15 pieces.. 20 ways

It’s all about the leather and black in outfits 17+18…what else is new? Layers are making another comeback in these outfits because lets get real, if you can wear multiple items at once and still look sweet, then why not, amiright?

THE 15 PIECES ARE: jacket, cardigan, tank, lace-up shirt, flannel, turtleneck, tee, skirt, joggers, leather leggings, black jeans, baggy/ripped jeans, adidas, boots, purse. The necklace, sunnies and scarf are accessories you can add to any outfit.

Outfit 17 had a lot of layers, again, a necessity for the fall weather. I used my scarf kind of as my jacket, wrapped around my shoulders. I added the flannel around the waste for a sporty look.

Outfit 18 kind of had the same vibe, but I actually wore my flannel and added a leather jacket. I think it looks cool how the shirt is really long, the flannel is a bit shorter and then the jacket is a lot shorter. Wearing two items with leather is okay here because it’s broken up by the shirts.

More outfits!! I’m finally styling the leather leggings, two different ways today. Leather leggings can be dressed up or down so they’re a great piece to pack.

Outfit 11 was a mix of dressing up/down, the silver necklace and chiffon tank dressed it up, while the oversized cardigan dressed it down. Adding another jacket over top is a way to wear this outfit for the colder months. This outfit includes the bag, cardigan, tank, leggings, boots and sunglasses.

Outfit 12 included a new hat that I bought so of course, it’s optional. I added the oversized tee, leather jacket and threw on my scarf and hat. Wearing two different tones of grey looked cool with the all black outfit. Definitely going to be wearing this scarf more often because it’s getting colder and colder.

The easiest way to make a lot of outfits from a limited amount of pieces is to layer. Layering is also key when it comes to the cold weather. Speaking of cold weather, dannnnnng, it has been getting colder and colder. I needed to get the outfits with the skirt done because soon enough, everything will be covered by my huge winter parka.

Outfit 9 had a sort of preppy vibe and I was unsure of wearing a leather jacket with a leather skirt but then I thought “there can never be enough leather” (faux, that is). I like how the plaid goes with the three Adidas stripes, pulls the outfit together. Of course I had to tuck the flannel in and wear socks that show out of my sneakers.

Outfit 10 was super comfy, layering the flannel under the cowl-neck sweater. Layering a button down shirt under a sweater is a cool way to add dimension to an outfit and keep warm. I love the way oversized sweaters look paired with an a-line skirt for Fall.

outfits 1 + 2 | 15 pieces..20 ways

This marks the first post in my 10 post series. A little reminder, there will be 2 outfits per post (2 outfits x 10 posts =20 outfits) as well as the collage of 15 pieces.  I’ll be mix and matching with all the pieces below to make 20 different outfits! Hope you enjoy and get some new inspiration for your garments.

Outfits 1 + 2 are all about simplicity, wearing the basics but adding a cool necklace or layering up. One of my all time fav basics are black skinnies, they can be worn so many ways it’s insane. Outfit numero uno consisted of the black jeans, tank, jacket, bag and booties. I added a necklace to pull the eye away from all the black in the outfit. This outfit would be great for grabbing a bite after class or work.

Outfit number two consisted of the black jeans, flannel, cardigan, bag and booties. The cardigan is really long and oversized so it actually keeps you warm (for now, that is). Here we go again with tucking my shirt in, I can’t help myself; I only tucked one part in so that not every top I was wearing was flowing in the same way. I think it adds some dimension to an outfit. This outfit is really comfy, so definitely going to be wearing this to class or while out and about doing errands. DSC01013

FALL in an outfit

I feel like I was the most fall one could be in this outfit, minus the fact I wasn’t carrying a pumpkin spiced latte. The colours of my scarcho (scarf+poncho) mixed with the blue denim just felt right. TBH, I don’t wear this scarcho that much because it’s hard to layer over top of a jacket, but if the weather is being nice then it’s definitely wearable. However, I do sometimes wear it as a scarf and bundle it around my neck. Hope you get some inspiration for your fall outfits!

I started out with a braid in my hair because I felt the look was very ‘equestrian’ and then for some pictures I looked like I had a pixie cut so had to let the mane loose. Ya’ll know I love tucking in shirts so adding a belt with my high-waisted jeans added to the ‘equestrian’ vibes. I’m using air quotes because that’s just what I think of but who really knows because I know nothing about horse riding gear. DSC00975 DSC00960 DSC00925 DSC00986 DSC00939

Series: 15 pieces..20 ways

Are ya’ll ready for this? I’m starting a series of 10 posts, about 15 key pieces to pack while traveling and 20 different outfits you can make from them. I bet you’ve seen the articles on Pinterest of ‘How to pack for 3 months in a carry on’ or ’10 pieces, 20 outfits’. They always intrigue me because I love packing and I love finding new ways to wear the clothes I have. This series will be my spin on these posts.

Let’s get the deets:

  • The most important detail is that this series is a part of my coursework for University in Scotland. I figured since I came here with only two suitcases, and had to pack minimally, it would be a great idea to share the different ways to wear what I packed.
  • The outfits will be for Fall weather (if you live in a colder climate), I’m living in Scotland right now which has similar weather to my home in Canada.
  • Each post will have 2 outfits featured in it (2 outfits x 10 posts=20 outfits… yay!) and the collage of the 15 pieces. I will be talking about why I paired these together and where you can wear them.
  • Accessories, bags and makeup are not included in the 15 key pieces because they are items that do not take up a lot of room in your suitcase and can be worn with every single outfit created

I hope you enjoy this series and are inspired to find new ways to wear your clothes, whether you’re travelling or at home. Thanks for reading and I’ll talk to you soon!

The days ahead (exciting news!)

I have some extremely exciting news to share with you all. As you know, I am studying fashion management in Toronto (Humber College), and I got the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Aberdeen, Scotland (RGU) for part of my third year!!!!! I am beyond excited. like it really does not feel real. I have never been to Europe, so of course I’m going to be doing some travelling before I go to school.

My first stop is London, then taking the train to Paris, flying over to Rome (I’ll be there for my 20th birthday!), then over to Germany and finally to the last stop, Scotland. I’ll be doing so many things and each day will bring something new. I can’t wait to share my days with all of you! I bought a new camera so my pics will be extra fleek and I’m going to try to vlog my trip and make a few videos as well.

Make sure you’re following me on Instagram @hungry4style_ to keep up with all the action. I seriously cannot wait to take outfit pics beside the Eiffel Tower or down a cobblestone path in London. Also, if you have any places to eat, shop or see in any of the places mentioned above, please, please share in the comments below or on my Instagram.

I’m so excited to share this journey with all of you and I hope you like the posts!!

Friday Favs + Mini Review #shapematters

So, this week’s Friday favourites is just going to be one product but I swear to god this product is so amazing it takes the place of like 5 other products you have in your makeup collection. If you don’t know, I’ve started to get more into beauty and makeup products and I want to bring that into my blog. Much like fashion and clothing, makeup is a way of having fun and trying new things. It’s not about disguising yourself or trying to be something you’re not. It’s about doing what makes you happy and feel good! Enough rambling and let’s get to the good stuff.

IMG_5061

This week I’m talking about the new Smashbox #ShapeMatters palette. If you follow me on Instagram (which you should) then you have seen a couple posts where I rave about how amazing this product is. This product contains 2 eyebrow powders and a wax, 4 contour and highlight shades and 9 eyeshadow shades, oh and a double ended brush for the eyebrows and eyeshadows. This palette is honestly so multi-purpose, it’s amazing. Every single colour in this palette is amazing and can be used for day or night makeup looks. The colours have great pigmentation and they blend very easily. I’ve been using this palette like every single day since I’ve bought it and the colours last so long on the skin. The palette is $69.00 on Sephora.com and it is SO worth the price. I’ve been wanting to buy the contour palette and sticks from Smashbox but have held off since they are a little pricey. So as soon as I heard about this palette, it was a no brainer that I needed it.

Now we’re getting to the real good stuff; swatches and pictures.

Left to right, top to bottom:

[BROW] eyebrow wax, taupe and soft brown

[FACE] contour, bronze, highlight and glow

[EYE] vanilla, totally nude, champagne, stripped, posh, platinum, sumatra, aubergine, blackout

I’ve been loving wearing ‘GLOW’ as a highlight and ‘HIGHLIGHT’ to set my under eye concealer. Oh the irony. I use ‘CONTOUR’ everyday to, you guessed it, contour. It gives a really natural looking structure to the face, unlike some other powders that look to orange or unnatural. I haven’t gotten around to using the darker eyeshadow shades but I have used almost all the lighter ones and I love them all.

If you haven’t gotten the hint already then what I’m trying to say is that you need this palette. Even if you’re a beginner to the makeup world (I still consider myself one), this is a great multi-purpose palette to get you started. If you are usually unsure about buying palettes because of the price or maybe you won’t use a couple shades, like myself, this palette will seriously amaze you and it is definitely worth the price. For me, I took into consideration that I wanted to buy the trio contour sticks from Smashbox and those alone are $52, this palette was only $17 more and I got 1 more contour shade, 9 eyeshadows, a brush and 3 eyebrow products. If that’s not a great value, I don’t know what is.
