The title could probably sum up this post but instead I am going to do a lot of talking.. well, actually it’s writing. So don’t just think ‘ugh I just want pictures!’. No outfit post this week. Surprisingly I didn’t pack a lot of clothes with me to go camping. Unfortunately, I have been an offender of repeat outfits and I am not just going to put together something you have already seen for the sake of an outfit post. I want to wait until I get back to the city to give you guys something great. I did go shopping though and I bought the cutest lace bralettes from Aerie and an awesome jungle print tank and printed pants. There will definitely be posts about these because they are all amazing buys. I have always under rated Aerie until a couple days ago. Literally they have the cutest PJ shorts, bras and panties. The best thing is I get 50% off my birthday month (which is next month) so I am super excited about that.
I wrote the quote above myself because I truly believe it and that anyone and everyone should live by it. It’s true because clothes can make you feel a certain way and can even make you feel like someone other than yourself (not in a good way) so to truly be who you are, you need to wear what you want. On that note, I want to talk about style and give a couple quotes from the books I have been reading lately. So, the books I am talking about are The Little Black Book of Style by Nina Garcia and The World According to Karl which is a collection of quotes by the amazing Karl Lagerfeld. I definitely recommend these two books to every one interested in Fashion, they can be bought at Chapters (in Canada) and probably online as well.
The one topic I came across in Nina Garcia’s book is “What makes a woman stylish?” and almost every answer was along the lines of ‘confidence’, ‘elegance’ and ‘passion’. Donatella Versace said, “Without a doubt, the most stylish asset that any woman can have is confidence.”. This is SO TRUE and all of us women need to embrace what we have and love ourselves first. Elle Macpherson said, “Find a personal style by not following fashion trends”. Yes, trends make us feel cool, hip and ‘in the know’ but do they really encompass your true style? The answer is no because you are just following what everyone else is doing and that is not style.
Here are a couple quotes from Lagerfeld; “The clothes don’t have to suit you; you have to suit the clothes.”, “What is a ‘style’? It starts with breaking away from convention, smashing accepted reality.”.
Inspiration… inspiration can literally be found anywhere you can see with your two eyes. It can be found riding your bike down the street, sitting in your office, scrolling through Tumblr, seeing your favourite colour. Everyone needs inspiration to get by, we all help each-other find out more about ourselves, what we like, what we dislike. It is amazing what inspiration can do.
What I hope to do is inspire women all around the world some day and I can only start by writing this blog to showcase who I am and help others be who they are. I hope you all go out tomorrow and buy these books because they are amazing!
